My 23rd Birthday!!

Yesterday was my 23rd Birthday...even though I am 58! Explain that!!

Yesterday, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, in 2001, I was translated from death in the Law, into His Kingdom of glorious Light! Hallelujah! I was baptized at Atlanta Church of Christ, in front of hundreds of people, surrounded by my closest family and by God's Family. If I live to be 100, I will never forget that day!

I had been "introduced" to Jesus in a very serious and profound way by my Uncle and Aunt. That is not to say that I did not know Jesus, who He is, and the Gospel. BUT. I had no REAL idea of what the Bible said, His TRUE SACRIFICE, what it means to be a New Creation, all of it. Beautiful "Jane" reached out to me at just the right time; I was lost and wandering; damaged and broken. She introduced me to sweet believers who shared the Word with me. A few months later, I was baptized by my father's brother "Clyde", who is a true preacher of the Gospel, and a raconteur of gargantuan proportions! The words he spoke about Jesus, me, my relationship with Jesus, and my Eternity are still precious to this day.

I even remember the song that we sang that day: it was Redemption Song, by Bob Marley, back when Speech was our Worship Leader. Do y'all remember Speech?? Wow! That was gooooood worship!

I went on to walk with Him closely for years. And then the enemy told me some lies that I believed, and I ran away from God and into the arms of sin. What a heartbreaker; what a nightmare; what a shame. And I wandered around, sometimes in the Light, sometimes in the darkness, for a long while. BUT. Jesus never left me! He never leaves us nor forsakes us! Hallelujah!

Fast forward to now. I am not going to list every testimony that I have here, as the Interwebs are not powerful enough to contain and blast out all of the things the LORD has done for me! Suffice it to say...God is Good. He is always good, even when I am hideous. He is Loving, even when I am hateful. He is faithful, even when I am entrenched in infidelity, drunkenness, and monstrousness. He is King! And He is on the Throne! Glory!

If you don't know Jesus, you have to meet Him!! I'll introduce you. He is the most Beautiful, Cool, Encouraging, Loving and Kind person EVER!! He is Funny and Smart and Forgiving! He is Totally Relatable, and Easy To Be With! You will love Him, and I can assure you, He already loves you!!

It's not always an easy walk. But it is worth it all...He is worthy of it all!!
